Today marks the beginning of a more connected, more efficient, and more digitally-led model for the UK building services sector.
Following confirmation from the Competition and Markets Authority that the condition for our commercial agreement with Speedy Hire has been satisfied, HSS ProService Marketplace is ideally positioned for the future.
This brings together HSS ProService’s category-leading digital marketplace technology and data-driven procurement systems with Speedy’s nationwide network and operational expertise, enhancing the UK’s first fully integrated online marketplace for equipment, fuel and related services.
This shift strengthens our ability to give customers reliable access to the right kit, at the right time, at competitive rates.
The agreement also allows us to move to a fully asset-light hybrid model, increasing flexibility and enhancing the value we deliver.
A key part of this partnership includes Speedy Hire becoming the sole supplier for rehire and resale. This will create expanded opportunities for our supply chain partners and will simplify the way equipment is sourced and managed across a wide range of projects.
A number of Speedy teams will also be joining the HSS ProService business. These teams bring deep expertise in rehire operations, sales and training, and they will play an important part in delivering against our future ambitions. We’re looking forward to welcoming them as part of our newly extended team.
This agreement represents a fundamental shift in how the industry operates. It signals a move toward a more transparent, digital-first and customer focused approach. It gives immediate access to a broader fleet, a national footprint, and technology that removes unnecessary administration. It also gives our partners a platform that creates clarity, consistency, and confidence.
In simple terms, we are building a marketplace that is fit for the future of UK building services. The combination of our technology and procurement data with Speedy Hire’s operational strength creates something unique. It positions us as Europe’s largest stand-alone marketplace for building services and creates a foundation for long term growth.
As our CEO, Tom Shorten said: ‘It has been a challenging period for customers and suppliers across the sector. Budget pressures, inflation and a tough economic climate have created real strain. This agreement is a direct response to those pressures. It provides customers with the right equipment and services at the best possible price through a platform that delivers practical value every day.
